You’ve seen ‘em. Fast-walkers, they’re prevalent on any college campus; they’re numerous in numbers, but on sight, they beg just one question of innocent onlookers: why not run?
They swing their arms almost above their heads as their backpacks thrash around in their wake. They weave and dash through crowds of pedestrians on their way to record setting paces. I can’t help but hear Cake’s “The Distance” in my head when a power-walker brushes by with speed unacceptible for a any walking pace.
Apparently, I am not the only making this observation. City officials in Sausalito, CA have observed some of the very same behavior.
I’m calling for the public to collaborate and finally bring and end to the absurb act of power-walking. Moderate-pace walkers unite!
